Thank you for choosing to book your stay at Ivy Guest Cottage or The Bothy. We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay a pleasant one. When you make a booking you are entering a legal agreement with us, therefore please read our terms and conditions of booking below. The legal agreement commences on the date we receive your deposit.
Booking Terms and Conditions for Self Catering
These Booking Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of Scotland and apply to all Bookings except where We agree in writing other terms. By making a Booking You are deemed to accept these Booking Terms and Conditions.
Occupation of Accommodation
This agreement confers on You a right to occupy the accommodation for the purposes of a holiday only. We regret we are no longer able to offer accommodation for the purpose of attending a wedding. Only registered guests are permitted on the premises at any time (maximum of two guests per accommodation). Sorry, Our accommodation is not suitable for infants.
The prices include the use of towels and bed linen, and reasonable use of electricity, oil-fired central heating and initial supply of logs for the wood burning stove.
To secure Your Booking, a non-refundable deposit equal to 25% of the total price of the accommodation is payable at the time of booking. The balance is due not less than eight weeks prior to the arrival date. We will send You advance notification that the balance is due. If the balance of payment is not received by the stated date, the Booking will be treated as cancelled, the dates will be marketed again and the deposit forfeited.
We accept payment by debit and credit card (Maestro, Visa and MasterCard), and by direct bank transfer. We do not accept cheques.
Cancellation and Insurance
Please let Us know if You need to cancel Your booking. The deposit is non-refundable. For cancellations made between eight and four weeks prior to the arrival date, 60% of the booking fee will be forfeit. For cancellations made between four weeks and one week prior to the arrival date, 80% of the booking fee will be forfeit. For cancellations made one week or less prior to the arrival date, 100% of the booking fee will be forfeit. As We are unable to judge reasons for cancellation We respectfully remind You that a Booking constitutes a legal agreement and therefore recommend that you take out an appropriate holiday insurance policy.
In the very rare circumstances where We would need to cancel Your Booking due to unforeseen circumstances beyond Our control, We would do Our utmost to offer You suitable alternative accommodation. However, if this was not possible, or unacceptable to You, We would refund all monies paid by You without delay. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.
Normal hours of arrival are between 4 pm and 7 pm. Later arrival is sometimes possible, by agreement prior to booking. Sorry, an earlier arrival is not possible. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes baggage drop-off, key collection etc.
Please vacate Your accommodation prior to 10.30 am on the day of departure.
Conditions of Stay
We reserve the right to terminate Your Booking immediately without being liable for any refund or compensation where You engage in unacceptable behaviour that causes a disturbance or distress to other guests or to neighbours.
Sorry, pets are not permitted.
We operate a NO SMOKING policy within ALL interior areas of the accommodation. Should you not comply with this policy We reserve the right to charge You up to £150 for the cleaning of carpets and other soft furnishings to remove the odour of tobacco. Smoking is permitted in the gardens.
Damages and Breakages
Please take care with Our accommodation. You will be given an inventory and We will ask you to note any deficiency on arrival. You are liable for any damages or breakages which You cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report these as soon as they occur. We reserve the right to charge You for the repair or making good, particularly if the damage or breakage is significant and caused by negligence or a wilful act.
Our total liability to You is limited to monies already paid by You, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by Ourselves. This applies to any damage, loss or injury to You, Your possessions or any vehicles.
Ivy Guest Cottage is arranged over two floors. We do not have a lift. The Bothy offers single-storey accommodation. Unfortunately due to the layout of the buildings We are unable to provide wheelchair accessible accommodation.
Right of Entry
We reserve the right to enter the accommodation at any reasonable time for the purpose of inspection, repair work etc.
We understand the need for appropriate protection of all personal information provided by You. Any information You supply to Us will be used for the purposes of administration functions such as contacting You about Your booking and sending You information about Us. Your details will not be passed to third parties without Your prior consent, except in cases where We believe in good faith that We have a legal obligation to do so.
“Booking” shall mean Your reservation request to stay at Ivy Guest Cottage and the duration of Your stay.
“We/Our/Ourselves” shall mean the business trading as Ivy Guest House & Self Catering Accommodation, represented by Jennifer Greenshields.
“You/Your” shall mean the person(s) making the reservation request and the person(s) on whose behalf the reservation request is being made.
